indieKarma shutting down? October 16, 2008

I blogged about indieKarma over a year ago, the micropayment services that allows surfers to give tiny donations to their favourite websites – I was honest in saying it’s kind gimmicky, but could be an awesome concept if it took off.
Bad news? It never took off. Here’s the email I got just now from indieKarma.
At the end of October indiekarma will be shutting down.
We built a nice little application that we hopped would become a functioning micropayment solution, and we failed. We tried – we had bold ideas – we just couldn’t make it work.
It then goes on to advise users to remove the code from pages that are using it, and mentions how the domain name, code, and patents will be for sale.
It’s a shame really, indieKarma could have been a cool concept, but now it’s closing down, anyone fancy buying it and doing it up?

I don’t fancy buying it, but sprinklepenny are looking for suitable web authors to trial their new services, which is offering a new spin on micropay.
